Bible Text: Proverbs 4:23, Proverbs 23:7, Philippians 4:8
INTRODUCTION
In fulfilment of God’s purpose for our life, our thoughts are very crucial. Proverbs 4: 23, admonishes us to guard our hearts with diligence. Proverbs 23: 7, identifies that we do the thinking, not God thinking for us. Definitely, God has good plans for us but we need to align our thoughts with His. Philippians. 4: 8, encourages us to think on things that are pure, holy etc.
In life and destiny, your thoughts will make or unmake you, heal you or hurt you, generate friends or enemies, happy or miserable, victorious or a victim, overcomer or captive, success or failure. Information is the mother of transformation, and the transformation of your thoughts is the transformation of your life. Everything that you will ever become or happen to you in life has to come first from your heart. Either greatness or wretchedness, they are all products of your thoughts.
So conscious thinking is almost lost amongst Believers. You need to pray right and think right (Eph. 3: 20). If you pray so much and think so wrong, your thinking will nullify all the prayers (Num. 13: 26 – 30). Joshua and Caleb, got to the promised land by the reprogramming of their thoughts.
In Matt. 12: 34, we discover that the mouth speaks the contents of the heart either consciously or unconsciously. Your values or believes, come from your thoughts. Your thoughts will either break you or make you. Once your mind (thought) is reprogrammed you are sure you are going go make it – right thinking is right living. Everyone has a perception of the world they are living in – some see themselves as victims others see themselves as failures.
Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your Character, they become your destiny.
No matter how difficult a situation is, once you think positively, there will be a way (Gen. 11: 1 – 11).
What your heart cannot accomodate today, you will not see it tomorrow. To succeed in life, you must succeed in your thoughts.
WORTH OF YOUR THOUGHT LIFE
1. It takes good thinking to produce a good life (Prov. 23: 7). Your heart work connected to your brain work is the real work.
2. The state of your thoughts determine the state of your life (Num. 13: 25 – 33, 14: 21 – 24).
pattern (Prov. 4: 23). Your mental picture determines your actual picture. Thinking usually precedes seeing. God’s order of things is you is to think, see and then take possession (Gen. 13: 15, Eph. 1: 17 – 18).
4. Your mind must change gear if your situation must move forward. You can achieve all you desire if your mind is transformed. See also the woman with the issue of the blood (Mark 5: 24 – 35).
5. Your mind is the gateway to the miraculous.
6. Your thought is strategic in spiritual warfare (2 Cor. 10: 3 – 6, Job. 3: 25 – 2 , 1 Pet. 1: 13). Accomodation of negative thoughts will end you up in a negative end.
Stop thinking premature death or loss of job.
DECLARATION: (I pray for everyone entertaining negative thoughts) The Lord will change everything about you in the name of Jesus!
7. Your thought life determines your holiness and purity. The Devil can only corrupt you through your thoughts (2 Cor. 11: 3). Evil thoughts preceeds evil acts. If you can stop the thoughts then you can stop the acts. It takes a pure thought to live a pure life. You need to clean up your thoughts for a clean life. A research result revealed that a man has about ten thousand thoughts a day and between 70% to 80% of them are negative.
Most human beings are unable to fully utilize their brain cells, Albert Einstein was believed to have guided only 5% of the capacity of his brain (Ps. 139: 14 – 17).
A Christian has an advantage when it comes to the issues of the mind (1 Cor. 2: 16, Deut. 30: 19, Is. 26: 3).
HOW DO I REPROGRAMME MY THOUGHTS?
1. Give good time to thinking. It is good to pray and it is also important to hear from God. If you want to spend one hour with God, spend forty five minutes praying and fifteen minutes thinking. Take time to reason. High flyers in life have ample opportunities to think (Dan. 2: 15).
2. Seek go be alone. You need privacy (Dan. 2: 17).
3. Select your thinking companion(s) carefully (Dan. 2: 17). Relationship play a vital role in sharpening your mind. Many destinies have been ruined because of wrong company (Prov. 13: 20, 1 Cor. 15: 33)
4. Spend time with God in prayers (Dan. 2: 19, Ps. 77: 6, Ps. 16: 7).
5. Receive laying on of hands for impartation (2 Tim. 1: 6 Deut. 34: 9).
6. Diligent studies (2 Tim. 2: 15 Dan. 9: 2).
7. Think aloud (Habb. 3: 2).
BENEFITS OF REPROGRAMMING (RENEWING) YOUR THOUGHTS.
1. You see and understand things from a higher level (Math. 13: 19).
2. You gain an understanding of your right as a child of God.
3. Refuse to accept defeat (When you do this poverty and sickness flee).
